Condition
Oil on original canvas. There is a three-sided scratch with associated paint loss in the upper left corner of the composition, measuring approximately 15cm. On close examination it is possible to see some paint cracking in the thicker areas of impasto. This has resulted in some lifting in the orange pigment at the upper centre of the composition and in the maroon pigment in the upper left quadrant. There is a further small fleck of paint loss at the lower right horizontal edge. With the exception of the above the work appears to be in good overall condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of florescence or retouching.
The work is presented in a gilt frame with a linen wrapped slip.
