Condition

Not viewed out of the frame. The board appears sound. There are nailheads visible around the edges of the board, with some very small resultant losses to the paint in one or two places, thought to be inkeeping with the artist's working method. The edges of the board are slightly rubbed and scuffed in places, with some resultant losses to the board and paint, most apparent at the top right corner and along the lower horizontal edge, thought to be inkeeping with the artist's working method. There are some lines of reticulation apparent to the dark pigments in the upper right corner, to the lower left area of the dark pigment, and to the white pigment in the central lower half of the work. There are one or two small scuffs to the surface towards the lower edge, and a scratch in the bottom left corner, with some very small resultant losses. There is some light surface dirt and traces of mould spores across the work. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching. The work is float-mounted within a white wooden tray frame, housed under glass.
