Condition
Not viewed out of the frame. Oil on original canvas. The canvas appears sound. There is some light rubbing around the edges of the canvas, most likely inkeeping with a previous frame. There is some craquelure to the more impasto areas of paint, most apparent in the blue and white painted areas in the centre of the composition. There are also a few scattered flecks of very minor loss, visible only upon extremely close inspection. There are several very light surface scuffs towards the right vertical edge. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in good overall condition, with strong and vibrant colours throughout.
Ultraviolet light reveals a small spot of florescence and possible retouching in the black element on the right hand side of the composition. This has been sensitively executed.
The work is float mounted in a square-profile stained wooden frame, with painted white wooden inset, held under glass.
