- Arin Dwihartanto Sunaryo

Innovative and daring, Indonesian artist Arin Dwihartanto Sunaryo is keen on pushing the boundaries of artistic vocabularies in creating his own voice. The artist is constantly inspired by comics, science fictions, and Japanese manga, where he incorporated the dynamic and animated elements into his abstract paintings. The present lot demonstrated how Arin played around with the fluidity of pigment and resin in creating the lively forms, constructing the incomparable glossiness in his paintings. The title of the painting Have a blast in your living room 2 suggests a joyous ambience, yet can also be understood as the movement of the colours present in the artwork. Arin once described his art as “a gamble”, where he relies heavily on chances since the final product depends on the unpredictability of the resin. By using resin as his dominant medium, Arin has preserved the momentum of the colours, painting truly unique pieces that cannot be recreated.
