Condition
There is minor rubbing across surface, particularly around the edges and very small accretions visible due to the light coloured paint. The surface of the canvas is slightly undulated and may benefit from re-stretching. In good overall condition, as viewed.

Catalogue Note
In 1948, Narayan Shridhar Bendre visited New York to hold a solo exhibition in the Windermere Gallery. On his journey back to India, he travelled extensively through Europe, where he became acquainted with the works of modernist masters. It was this exposure that encouraged him to experiment with elements of cubism, expressionism and pointillism.
This painting is a masterful example of Bendre’s own version of pointillism, a technique which he developed in the 1970s and 1980s. Although the style has been largely adopted from western artistic movements the subject matter was inspired directly from the world around him. Bendre states "I belong to this earth. I walk on this earth, and I don't think of anything but this earth. Things here are my kind of library, I'm not interested in anything else. As such I don't create dream paintings.
