Condition

Canvas is relined. This picture is in quite favorable condition with strong coloration in the flesh tones and in the purple drapery. Various small scattered retouches are visible under ultraviolet light, applied mostly for reinforcement, which are faintly visible to the naked eye as the slightly darkened brushstroke size spots. An uneven varnish is also applied to the canvas. In the lower right corner in the darker area, there has been more broad restoration to visually put that small, but compositionally unimportant area in balance. The small retouches are applied well and are not meant to fix any major damages but rather for reinforcement. The picture could conceivably be hung in its current state as it retains very nice detailing and fresh coloration. In a carved giltwood frame.
