Condition
This painting has been lined. The surface is clean and fresh, if somewhat flattened. The paint is thin along the left side and in the upper and lower left corners, likely the artist's intent. Under UV light, the majority of the work fluoresces green. However, there are some brushed areas of darker florescence visible at the extreme edges; near the upper right corner; scattered in the background around the flowers; and lower left of the bottom group of hydrangeas. In overall very good condition framed and ready to hang

Catalogue Note
Victoria Dubourg Fantin-Latour, the wife of Henri Fantin Latour, was an accomplished painter in her own right. She was invited to exhibit at the Salon from 1869 on and was best known for her still lifes of flowers and fruits. Dubourg's work, while clearly inspired by Fantin Latour's style, is often confused with her husband's work due to her technical proficiency.
We would like to thank Brame & Lorenceau for kindly confirming the authenticity of this lot which is included in their archives on the artist.
