Description

  • Total 18cm. high; 7in. ; The cockerels: 16cm., high, 6½in.; total width: 25.5cm., 10in.
each in the form of a cockerel of mirror image modelled standing on a rocky plinth, the body detailed with red, green, yellow and blue plumage, the head facing forward and surmounted by an iron-red crown flanked by European  porcelain-mounted branches issuing two candlearms, on a circular base, cast with gekko, snakes and flowers

Condition

In overall good conserved condition. There is some very minor resoldering to rear branches and some miniscule scattered chips to some of the porcelain flowers which are hardly noticeable. The crown of one cockerel was broken and re-stuck with associated enamel flake. There are other areas of minor enamel flake, including one on the neck (0.4x0.2cm). The other cockerel has a firing crack to the front bottom of the crown. Both cockerels with minor enamel wear and glaze firing imperfections such as iron spots and burst glaze bubbles.
