Description

  • bronze, gilt-bronze and agate
  • one pair 24cm. high, other pair 25cm. high; 9½in., 9¾in.
one pair: the covers with a berried foliate finial above swan neck acanthus cast handles suspending berried laurel swags on circular bases and square plinths with concave corners on bun feet; the other pair: of ovoid form the domed cover with a berried foliate finial, female mask handles suspending ribbon-tied floral swags on a beaded circular base and bun feet

Condition

In overall good conserved condition. The gilding is slightly dirty and would benefit from a light clean according to taste. Swan neck pair: One cover restored break. Ovoid pair: One cover restored break. On the inside of the other cover there is a small lighter coloured area which is only visible when cover is removed and turned upside down.
