Catalogue Note
Furniture by Charles Topino (1742–1803, maître 1773) is most well-known for its intricate inlaid marquetry, often depicting rich floral decorations, or idyllic landscape scenes. From his workshop on the Grande rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine, Topino produced furniture to the taste of every aspect of Parisian society. The marquetry on the present lot relates closely to a table à écrire illustrated in Sylvain Barbier Sainte Marie, Charles Topino, Paris, 2005, p. 78.
