Description
- Bronze, brass, steel, enamel, ivory
- 47cm.; 18½in. high
5-inch annular enamel dial with polychrome outer calendar ring, moonphase dial above signed Coteau, Invt. Fecit and eagle cresting, the bell striking movement with pin wheel escapement, silk suspension and sunburst pendulum, the inverted 'Y' shaped frame applied with dark blue enamel panels decorated with gilt and polychrome flowers within finely chased gilt-bronze foliate mounts, the lower corners with turquoise and grisaille enamel plaques of Philosophy and Astronomy, the centre with a well painted miniature on ivory of a lady in an oval paste-set frame, the whole raised on an integral breakfront white marble plinth applied with a dark blue enamel plaque centred with an oval reserve of a grisaille putto on a turquoise ground within a 'pearl' border

Condition
Clock dial in good condition though rather dirty, date sector to moon dial has numerous hair cracks and old restoration, moon dial in good condition. Movement is complete but much in need of a clean and service. Case retains the original gilding, enamel panels in good condition, minor edge chips to marble base, ivory miniature is probably later 19th century and is in good condition. With pendulum and winder.
