Condition

Oil on original canvas, unframed. There are stretcher marks around the edges of the canvas. There is a push at the centre of the left hand edge, and a further push at the centre of the right hand edge. There is a small tear to the canvas, measuring approximately 1.5cm towards the lower part of the cream area of the composition in the upper right hand corner. There are areas of paint loss to extreme edges of the work. There is a small area of paint loss in the middle of the cream area towards the left hand vertical, and several smaller areas of paint loss in the cream area towards the right hand edge of the work. There is an uneven paint surface in several of the more impasto areas of paint. There are areas of reticulation, most apparent in the cream area to the upper right of the composition, the dark beige area to the lower area of the composition (immeadiately to the right of the three orange areas), and the cream/dark beige area in the upper left quadrant, immeadiately to the left of the orange area. There are also areas of craquelure, including but not exclusive to, the cream areas towards the upper right hand corner. There is surface dirt and studio detritus across the work, particularly at the corners. Ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching.
