Condition
Oil on board. The board is stable. There are several scratches across the surface of the work, the most noticeable of which are two areas of light surface scratching on the left hand side of the composition, above the boat and also in the top left hand corner, with some associated paint loss. There are three deeper areas of scratching on the far right hand side, in the sky area, which expose the surface of the board beneath. There are also two very light scratches in the centre of the work above the girl, one darker scratch measuring approximately 4.5cm and another longer, lighter scratch measuring approximately 14cm. There is minor paint loss at the edges of the board, most probably a result of frame abrasion, and some frame detritus around the sides of the board, as well as a small area of detritus on the far left hand vertical. There is some surface dirt and studio detritus.
Ultraviolet light reveals mild fluorescence in keeping with the nature of that artist's materials.
