Condition

The sheet has been laid down onto a backing card. There is one pinhole in each of the upper corners, most likely inkeeping with the artist's working method. The sheet has an uneven edge, which appears to be consistent with the artist's working materials, and there are also several extremely small tears and creases around the edges, including two small incisions at the extreme upper horizontal edge, only visible when viewed unframed. There are several very small repaired tears to the upper left corner, as well as one repaired tear towards the upper right vertical edge, only visible when viewed unframed. There are some extremely small losses to the watercolour scattered across the work, most apparent in the dark green painted areas in the upper and lower left quadrants. There is some very minor surface dirt and studio detritus across the work. The watercolour is strong and vivid and, subject to the above, the work appears to be in good condition. The work is framed and glazed, presented in a painted wooden frame with linen slip. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
