Condition
This work has undergone recent restoration and repairs inherent to both paint loss and Mother of Pearl loss.
Two cracks run across the work vertically and parallel in a straight-line. General craquelure is present throughout the work and frame.
Oil and Mother of pearl replacement were carried out during recent restoration. There are slightly visible age-related bulges in some wood areas. On the back of the work, stretches of canvas were used on the upper and lower areas from a previous restoration, which were partially applied in order to provide support and avoid disjointing caused by a wood tear. The frame is also Enconchado and presents general craquelure and Mother of Pearl and oil replacements.
Please note that this painting is in its original early 18-Century frame. For an image of the frame please refer to the on-line catalogue on sothebys.com
