Description

  • bronze
of circular form, supported on a small foot, cast with a flanged rim and set with two lion-head handles, finely inlaid around the exterior in silver filigree with two bats among billowing clouds, all above a border of lotus petals encircling the base, the rim incised with keyfret and the mouth inlaid with undulating lines, the base inscribed with a six-character apocryphal Xuande mark within an inlaid silver frame

Condition

There is some expected tarnishing to the silver inlays, some wear to the handle and mouth rim or occasional minor nicks along the edges or to the surface, all consistent with age and the use of the object.
