Description
- bronze
cast with a compressed globular body rising to a waisted neck and a flared mouthrim all raised on a low straight foot, the neck set with a pair of lion-head handles and a thin band enclosing four archaistic birds on a leiwen ground, with a border of swirls encircling the foot, the base cast with a recessed square panel enclosing an inscription reading yongcun zhenwan ('everlasting rare curiosities'), the patina of a dark greenish-brown tone
Condition
There is a small old repair to the cast in the lower body, approx. 0.5 by 0.5 cm, there are occasional dents to the body and the rim, all consistent with the age and the type. There is expected light surface wear.
