Description

  • bronze
the ovoid body with wide shoulders sweeping to a flared mouth, the body finely decorated in silver inlay with two taotie masks and a band of pendent cicada blades below, with a band of stylised kui dragons on a leiwen ground around the foot, set to the shoulders with a pair of animal head masks, their mouths issuing loop handles suspending loose rings, the patina of a warm brown colour

Condition

The vase generally of good condition. There is some wear to the sides, a few dents to the surface or occasional pitting, all consistent with age and the type. With occasional nicks along the edges and minute casting flaws, the inlay is somewhat tarnished.
