Description

  • bronze
of unusual funnel form, cast with a wide galleried rim and a tapering body, supported on three well-cast feet fashioned as mythical beast heads with jaws open wide and exposing lolling tongues, the sides with a pair of horned dragon heads issuing large handles from their mouths, the midsection decorated in low relief with two taotie masks on a leiwen ground, all below a mouthrim bordered with swirls and boss accents, the base detailed with a circular panel of geometric floral designs, the patina of a variegated caramel-brown colour

Condition

There is some wear to the sides, a few dents and scratches to the surface or occasional pitting, all consistent with age and the type.
