the rounded sides rising from a tapered foot to a wide and everted rim, painted to the interior with a central medallion enclosing a jardinière of flowers in a fenced garden, encircled by shaped cartouches of flowers and butterflies, the rim with three large ruyi-shaped lappets enclosing scrolling chrysanthemums and prunus, alternating with birds in flight amongst flowers, the exterior with three sets of floral branches below a diaper band with shaped cartouches enclosing seafish and butterfly

Condition

The dish had been broken and restored, with extensive areas of overpainting and restoration. There is general wear to the surface and minor glaze firing imperfections.
