Description

the charger of circular form, the shallow sides rising to a wide everted rim, the interior brightly painted with a floral medallion surrounded by radiating semi-floral heads and ruyi lappets, encircled by a shaped cartouche with meandering floral sprays, bordered by an ice-crackle ground with prunus and butterflies and a band of pink floral scrolls, the sides with a similarly decorated blue floral scroll, the rim painted with fruiting and floral sprays reserved on a black ground, the base enamelled in white and painted with detached fruiting and floral sprays, the domed cover similarly decorated and surmounted by a metal knob

Condition

The charger with considerable areas of enamel loss around the rim and along the edges of the base, the largest area measuring 11.5x1.5cm. There are associated areas of yellowed restoration and enamel flakes. The domed cover with similar areas of yellowed restoration and enamel losses, including the area just below the knop, along the exterior and the underside. The enamels with signs of contraction particularly to the interior of the charger. There are general surface wear and enamel loss.
