  • 55cm. 21¾in. high
5-inch enamel dial signed Cachard Sucr. De Ch. Le Roi, A Paris, the movement with silk suspension and outside count wheel striking on a bell, the drum surmounted by a seated dog restraining a swan and supported on a pillar inset with scientific trophies and with adorsed classical female figures flanked by flaming urns, the bow-ended plinth on tall gilt feet

Condition

Dial has cracks at 4 and minor edge chip and 5. Movement is complete but very much in need of a clean and service, crutch bent, bell replaced. The case is rather dirty but appears to retain much of the original gilding and patination, both urns are damaged and one has an old failed repair which could be much improved, marble is rather dirty and has many old minor edge chips. With a replaced pendulum but no winder.
