the stand of shaped triangular form, maker's mark GMO, Consul mark for Michele Xiacca, with three associated inkpots and cover, one Palermo, 1834-1837, centred by a Doccia porcelain figure candlestick modelled as a Turk holding a cornucopia sconce, circa 1760

Condition

marks partly legible on stand, associated inkpots unmarked or with illegible marks, porcelain figure with restoration to right hand, left arm and candelabra,

Catalogue Note

This figure is based on the engravings by Charles de Ferriol, Recueil de cent estampes représentant différentes nations du Levant published in 1714. It  can be referred to as the Imam or the Moufti. Another example, with his companion, Sultane Asseki, was sold Bonham's London, 3 December 2008, lot 89.
