Description

  • pine/poplar
  • each 86.5cm. high, the other 83.5cm. high., 51cm wide, 34.5cm deep; 2ft. 10in., 2ft. 8¾in., 1ft. 8in., 1ft. 1½in.
each with a shaped top painted to simulate verde antico marble above a pierced frieze, scrolled stem on three s-scrolled legs, the whole carved with rocaille, flowers and foliage

Condition

In overall good conserved condition. The gilding is less greenish and more golden and attractive and slightly darker than in the catalogue photograph.Scattered construction cracks especially across the tops and both have been strengthened underneath. Some minor flaking and retouching to the painted decoration on the tops and the gilding. Hairline construction cracks at joints which are commensurate with age and hardly noticeable. The feet have been strengthened. Old minor restorations to some carved sections and the stem of one which has a restored break. Evidence of old glue repair beneath top of one. On one table all three legs have metal brackets and one has an old break which would benefit from some further attention
