Compare the flame and coiled pearl motif along the outer rounded edge of the upper sculpture, the circular padma or lotus flower, the positioning and posture of the attendant figures at lower left and right, and the flat base with rounded lotus throne in the current work to another 12th century sculpture depicting Amoghapasha Avalokiteshvara from Kurkhihar, Bihar in the Indian Museum at Kolkata; see Susan L. Huntington, The "Pala-Sena" Schools of Sculpture, Leiden, 1984, pl. 115.
