Catalogue Note

Inlaid with turquoise, incised with foliate motif and the eight auspicious symbols, with a dedicatory Tibetan inscription across all four sides. The inscription is indecipherable in some places, but by the inscription we can glean that this work was commissioned by Gyaltsen Tashi and Shicho Namtrul.

Compare the finial, drum, deity niche and pedestal with a 15th Century stupa, see Pratapaditya Pal, Art of Tibet, Los Angeles, 1990, pp. 298-9, cat. R27.
