Condition

Oil on canvas, framed. Surface in generally good condition, colors are vibrant and fresh. A few minor scattered spots of surface dirt visible, primarily at upper and lower centers. A few scattered drips of what appears to be varnish visible in upper left corner and center. Under UV light, these drips fluoresce. No apparent inpainting visible.

Nephaster cyaneus (Cloudstar) is one of twelve works from Dorothea Tanning's series "Another Language of Flowers." Completed between June 1997 and April 1998, each work was accompanied by the words of twelve poets, all friends of the artist. The poem for Nephaster cynaeus (Cloudstar) is reproduced here.
