Condition
This work is in overall good condition. Canvas is not lined and remains unvarnished. The surface is un-abraded and well-preserved overall. It appears that the canvas was at one point unstretched and perhaps rolled, almost certainly in the artist's studio. This resulted in a slight unevenness to the canvas surface that could be improved if it were stretched a little more tightly. Some small spots of paint loss in the bed below the figure's feet. Under UV light: some original pigments fluoresce, notably in the background above and to the sides of the figure. There is a 1 inch vertical line of retouching to the figure's proper left knee. Otherwise, fine.
