  • Enamel, Yellow gold, pearl
  • diameter 64 mm
• polished steel Chinese caliber jeweled movement with duplex escapement • white dial, painted radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, center seconds • yellow gold case, pearl-set bezel, floral enamel scene on the case back, enamel to the band, enamel and pearl-set bow, glazed cuvette • movement signed     

Condition

Balance oscillates at the time of cataloging, hands are stuck and will not set, thus there is a problem with handsetting. In need of service, likely just gearing teeth issue. Case in very good condition, enamel overall with only light surface scratches, scene in excellent condition. Two pearls to the back bezel lacking. Dial in good condition with some light surface marks and scratches. Movement in very good condition with light spotting and some very light surface scratches. Overall a well preserved example of an oversized Chinese market watch.

Catalogue Note

Chinese caliber watches are normally seen with gilt metal engraved movements. The present lot contains a more rare, and more exclusive, polished steel movement, made in this manner to withstand oxidation.
