le lion debout tenant une chope couverte dans la patte droite, coiffé d'une couronne royale, la patte gauche appuyée sur un écu au chiffre de Louis II de Bavière, l'envers de l'écu orné d'une vue du château de Neuschwanstein, la base reposant sur quatre pieds en enroulement sommés de cygnes, la terrasse ornée d'un papillon et d'un serpent
Condition
In overall very good condition. Only struck with three assay scrapes, under three of thescolling feet of the terrace. The fact it has not been marked with official control marks could be explained if one admits it has been a Royal order for Neuschanstein castle, built for King Ludwig II of Bavaria between 1869 and 1884.

Catalogue Note
Neuschwanstein est un des trois célèbres châteaux édifiés par Louis II de Bavière (1845-1886). Louis II devint roi en 1864 à l'âge de 19 ans. Proche ami de Richard Wagner, et son principal mécène, il débuta la construction de Neuschwanstein en 1869. C'est aujourd'hui le château le plus célèbre et le plus visité d'Allemagne.
Le lion couronné est le symbole héraldique de la Bavière.
Il est possible que ce lion ait été commandé par le roi Louis II pour le château de Neuschwanstein.
