Condition
Overall in very good condition. The wooden surfaces present with detailed and rich figuring throughout. The wooden elements appear to have been sensitively refinished and present with minor surface scratches, a few minor edge abrasions and light surface soiling consistent with age and gentle use. The back of the cabinet has been replaced at some point in its history, which is not visible when the armoire is properly placed against the wall. The proper right door with a minor restoration to the veneer along the lower part of the third panel from the proper right, measuring approximately 2 ¾ inches. The upper edge of the proper left side of the armoire with a few minor and sensitively undertaken restorations, only visible upon close inspection and measuring approximately 1/8 by 1/8 in. The metal with some light surface scratches, a few minor edge abrasions and a few traces of oxidation throughout, consistent with age and gentle use. The upper metal frame along the edges of the front with wear to the patina, likely the result of cleaning. The proper left back foot is slightly misaligned, which does not at all affect the stability and visual balance of the piece. Two of the three shelves are likely original, executed in sycamore and consistent with the interior of the armoire. The interior and shelves with minor surface soiling from gentle use. With one key. A very elegant piece where the rich figuring of the rosewood contrasts beautifully with the geometric composition. -----
