Description

  • George Nakashima
  • "Minguren I" Coffee Table
  • with client's name to the underside
  • American black walnut and East Indian rosewood

Provenance

Acquired directly from the artist by the present owner

Condition

Overall in very good condition. The current condition of the table shows the sensitive care of the owner. The top of the table presents with a few very light surface scratches from gentle use. The perimeter freeform edges with scattered minor edge losses, the largest measuring ¾ inch, which are not visible once the table is righted. The lower portion of the base with a few m inor edge nicks and surface scratches consistent with age and use. A wonderfully balanced form showcase warm hues of caramels in the dramatic figuring to the top. The figuring is more saturated and pronounced than it appears in the catalogue illustration. This lot is sold with a copy of the original design drawing by George Nakashima. -----
