the pale green stone boldly worked in the form of a sampan, the deck with a shelter near the stern with a lady standing beneath it with an oar, two figures depicted seated at opposite sides atop a smaller shelter peering overboard, one of them holding a fish while the other reaches for something in a jar, a recumbent dog resting at the bow of the sampan looking in the direction of the fishermen, a billowing fishing net with cross-hatching incisions naturalistically rendered at the side of the sampan, all above crested waves delicately picked out on the underside of the vehicle, the stone of a pale celadon colour with faint russet inclusions

Condition

In overall good condition except minute nicks to the extremities as can be expected, including the edges of the sampan. There are also minor nicks to the corner of the bow and possibly an upright strut on the the left of the sampan. The catalogue illustration is a tinge yellower than the actual colour of the jade.
