The bold, large scale decoration on the stoutly potted form exemplifies Jin taste in Yaozhou wares. For a similar example in the Tokyo National Museum see The Masterpieces of Yaozhou Ware, The Museum of Oriental Ceramics, Osaka, 1997, cat. no. 94. A bowl of the same design and size was sold in our London rooms 15th May 2009, lot 67; and a dish of same subject matter was sold in these rooms 23rd March 2011, lot 524.
