well-carved, seated on its haunches, the rigid front paws planted firmly on the rectangular base, the head facing forward with mouth pulled back and agape, baring sharp teeth, the eyes bulging under furrowed brows, long stylized curls forming  the mane, the smooth stone of a pale gray color, fitted wood stand (2)

French & Co., New York, 31st May 1960, and thence by descent.

Condition

Both front legs broken and reattached, the plinth with restored breaks. The tip of one ear with a polished down chip, the lower front fang is missing and there is overall surface wear.
