finely worked in the form of a shallow bowl with rounded sides rising from a countersunk base, the interior decorated in low relief with a pair of catfish under a millet stem extending to the bowl's cavetto, the exterior similarly decorated in low relief with further millet stems and a fluttering butterfly, the stone of an even white colour with faint russet inclusions skilfully picked out to accentuate the design

Condition

The overall condition is very good except for some typical minute nicks to the extremities, including the tips of the whiskers, fins and tail. The natural veins of the stone has been deftly incorporated into the design. The actual colour of the stone is greener than the catalogue illustration.
