Catalogue Note
The firm of Gay and Hancock published The Story of Prince Ahmed and the Fairy Perie Banou from the Arabian Nights Entertainments around 1915. It featured illustrations by Charles Robinson. The first four ink and watercolour drawings, offered here, are exquisitely fine and were reproduced as the frontispiece, and opposite pages 34, 60 and 114 respectively. The seated gentleman and decorated capital appear on the first page of text and the vignettes were published on pages iii, iv, vi, vii and viiii.
