Description

  • SILVER and ivory
  • the coffee pot 25.5cm., 10in. high
the otherwise plain fluted vase-shaped bodies engraved with the initials MR below a ducal coronet (presumably for Mary, Duchess of Roxburghe), the coffee pot and hot-milk jug with silver handles, the undersides stamped 'S2043'; and a pair of silver sugar nips, engraved with the Crewe crest, maker's mark apparently P.B, London, circa 1745

Condition

coffee set: marks and condition mostly good, but the coffee pot has a split in the solder between the foot and the body; sugar nips: marks badly struck, condition worn, a split in one of the finger holes
