Condition

Illustration is accurate. Impressive case in very good condition, with a beautiful ormolu gilding and a very nice chasing. Movement and case later associated. Dial has damage around the left winding hole. Movement is Louis XIV period and signed Baltazar Martinot A Paris (probably originally fitted to a religeuse). Numbered outside count wheel striking on a bell, anchor escapement, formerly with quarter repeating work but this has been completely removed, later bell and stand, hammer altered/repaired, it looks as though it would run but would benefit from a clean. No pendulum or winder.

Catalogue Note
