Condition

These two ferrotyped gelatin silver prints are in generally very good to excellent condition. As is typical of ferrotyped prints, in raking light, matte linear striations are visible throughout the image. 'Pablo Casals' - In raking light, two small sharp handling creases are visible in the upper portion and at the right edge of the image, both of which may break the emulsion intermittently. The lower left corner is creased, which breaks the emulsion in the image and the margin. The margin edges are somewhat worn, and the corners lightly creased, generally not affecting the image. On the reverse, the following is annotated in an unidentified hand in pencil: 'Pablo Casals [twice]' and 'NO: P. O. GV.' There are some yellow adhesive remains on the reverse. 'Robert Frost' - As is typical of ferrotyped prints, superficial surface scratches and tiny impressions that do not break the emulsion are visible in raking light. There is some general wear to the margin corners and edges. On the reverse, the following are annotated in an unidentified hand in pencil: 'Robert Frost [twice]' and 'No. P.O.G.' The reverse is lightly soiled. On the reverse of both prints, the credit/copyright stamp is as follows: 'COPYRIGHT THE FOLLOWING CREDIT LINE MUST BE USED © KARSH, OTTOWA'
