Condition

Overall in excellent condition. The condition of the piece reflects the care and attention of the previous owner and shows no sign of age and use. Very minor surface dirt to the recessed areas of the design. A very interesting reinterpretation of Kiesling’s iconic design by Melgaard with rich detailing to the upholstery. ---

Catalogue Note

"The seats were a kind of wave which curved down, surged up, and fell once more, thus forming an object without beginning or end," said Kiesler of his Multi-use Chair, "and in its convex curves the body could take ease."  In the present lot, New York-based Norwegian artist Bjarne Melgaard covers the amorphous shape with fabric featuring his drawings, exemplifying how his artistic practice crosses disciplinary boundaries.
