Condition

This work is in very good and sound condition overall. There is evidence of light wear and handling. Some light hairline cracks are visible throughout but all appear to be stable. The work had been cleanly cut into four pieces and reattached at 12 contact points by Estate approved technicians, with the use of supporting interior dowels, and then repainted.

Catalogue Note

"I will refer to the kind of art in which I am involved as conceptual art. In conceptual art the idea or concept is the most important aspect of the work. When an artist uses a conceptual form of art, it means that all of the planning an decisions are made beforehand and the execution is a perfunctory affair. The idea becomes a machine that makes the art." Sol Lewitt
