Condition

This work is in good and sound condition overall. There is evidence of light wear and handling along the edges. There are scattered minor nicks and scratches throughout. The irregularities in the surface texture appear inherent to the artists chosen medium and working method. Under very close inspection there are some minor brown accretions in the grooves of the figure’s left hand and a pinpoint spot of loss at the tip of the figure’s left foot. There are visible horizontal irregularities to the black paint down the center of the figure, in the upper part of the mouth, on the figure’s right arm and on the right foot. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, the aforementioned areas fluoresce darkly and appear to be the result of a repair and several other minor scattered spots also fluoresce darkly and appear to have benefitted from restoration.

Catalogue Note

"There are some images that I will only use once, and not use again because they don’t seem to really hit the nail right on the head, but there are some which are so strong they have to be reduced; sometimes just reusing them makes them stronger."
