Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. The top and left edges of the sheet have been torn irregularly by the artist and are obscured by the top matte. The sheet has discolored slightly with age. Under very close inspection, there is a minor and unobtrusive pinpoint light beige media accretion along the right lower edge. The sheet is affixed verso to the matte at the upper corners. Framed under Plexiglas.

Catalogue Note

David Bowie: When you make a painting or a sculpture, do you find that the finished work often contains information you hadn't intended?

Roy Lichtenstein: Oh yeah. I think there's no doubt about it. But usually I begin things through a drawing, so a lot of things are worked out in the drawing. But even then, I still allow for and want to make changes.
