Condition

This work is in good condition overall. The colors are fresh and clean. There is evidence of light wear and handling along the edges including some very faint hairline craquelure at the pull margins. Under very close inspection there is a faint abrasion at the lower edge, 26 inches from the right edge, and some minor abrasions on some of the protruding elements. Under Ultraviolet light inspection a drip accretion fluoresces lightly in the upper left corner and there are minor spots at the corners and on some of the protruding elements that fluoresce darkly and appear to have benefitted from restoration. Unframed.

Catalogue Note

"I was accused of wanting to remain a painter. And it was true—I supported that, thinking that artwork is, yes, form, but if it is form only we are dealing with industrial design. However it is also appearance: how form appears to us, with which quality form acts upon our senses. This is visual art—painting. Form only is something else." Agostino Bonalumi
