Catalogue Note

The Old Vic is one of the world's great theatres where many of our most distinguished actors have appeared for nearly 200 years. Kevin Spacey has been the Artistic Director since 2004 and has continued to attract the best artistic talent. Matthew Warchus, Artistic Director designate, has recently announced his first season, opening in September, which also promises to be in the best Old Vic tradition of excellence.

The Old Vic Theatre Trust is a registered charity, receiving no regular public subsidy, and relies on box office income, and the generous support of individuals, trusts and foundations and companies to realise its ambitions. The Theatre has pioneered a financial model of self-reliance in the arts by establishing The Old Vic Endowment Fund to ensure its future as a major producing house, sustain its award-winning education and community programmes and maintain its historic building. Proceeds from this sale will go towards the Endowment Fund and will receive a 3:1 match from Arts Council England also payable into the Fund.

The Old Vic would like to thank Harland Miller for his great generosity in donating this work.
