Catalogue Note
Lynett Yiadom Boakye is one of the foremost contemporary painters in Britain. The present work is a fantastic example of her use of mesmerising, earthy tones which serve to draw out veiled emotions from the imagined characters she depicts. Having been nominated for the Turner Prize in 2013, she has since been collected by major institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Saatchi Collection, London; The Museum of Modern Art, New York; Tate Collection, United Kingdom among others and will be the subject of a major solo exhibition at the Serpentine Sackler Gallery, London in 2015.
