Catalogue Note
The yellow Imperial standard was also the symbol of the Imperial yacht Shtandart and appeared on the vessel's porcelain and glass services. 1914 was the last year that the Imperial family traveled on the yacht and it is possible that this pendant is associated with that voyage. For a comparable piece formerly in the Forbes Collection, see G. von Hapsburg and M. Lopato, Fabergé: Imperial Jeweler, NY, 1993, no. 135, p. 274.
