Description
- Still life of dead hare, pheasant and other small birds, with a wicker basket and a flask, all upon a wooden ledge
- Rolfe painting: 41 x 30 cm
oil on panel, signed E. Rolfe and dated 1836(?); together with a pair of small still lifes with dead game and fish on a table, probably German School, 19th century; and a further still life with a bird, German School, 18th/19th century, oil on canvas,

Condition
The canvas has been recently relined and the paint surface is rather pressed. There are tiny scattered discoloured retouchings throughout the background.
Inspection under ultraviolet light shows the aforementioned retouchings in the background, a repair in the middle of the upper margin, and a repair centre right margin. There are some strengthenings to the shadows by the birds on the left of the composition.
This lot is offered in a wood composite frame, with walnut inner band, in good condition.
