modelled by Wenzel Neu, standing on a circular mound base, wearing a white cap and a black mask and holding her skirt in her right hand.

Condition

The feather on her hat is chipped away. There is an approximate 1/5-inch flat chip to the base, which is not apparent from the exterior. There is an approximate 1-inch long firing crack running horizontally around her neck.

A similar figure is illustrated in Reinhard Jansen, Commedia Dell'Arte, Fest der Komödianten, p. 92, no. 76. An example was in the collection of Kiyi and Edward Pflueger, now in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and is illustrated in Early European Porcelain & Faience as collected by Kiyi and Edward Pflueger, p. 207.  Another, from the Estate of Dr. Joseph Kler, was sold at Christie's New York, April 27, 1984, lot 133; and one from the Collection of Otto and Magdelena Blohm was sold at Sotheby's London, July 5, 1967, lot 157.
